The heart of the Indian diaspora in Canada. Brampton, Mississauga and Toronto have some of the largest Indian communities outside India — temples, gurudwaras, South Asian groceries, GO transit and affordable shared rooms everywhere.

Surrey is BC's answer to Brampton — massive Punjabi and Gujarati communities, gurudwaras, South Asian grocery stores and affordable rooms. Vancouver is pricier but close to UBC, SFU and BCIT.

Alberta has no provincial income tax, lower rents than Ontario and a fast-growing Indian community. Calgary's Northeast is home to many Indian families. Edmonton has a strong student population near U of A.

Montreal has one of Canada's most affordable rental markets and a fast-growing South Asian student community. McGill, Concordia, UQAM and ETS draw thousands of international students every year, with Indian grocery stores and community spaces growing across the city.
