Welcome to Aapdu Ghar. I am committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information I collect, how I use it, and your rights regarding that information when you use my website at aapdughar.ca.

Aapdu Ghar is built for the Indian community across Canada, but it is open to everyone — I do not discriminate against anyone on any basis. I started this project with the community and people I know and trust, and the door is open to everyone. This policy applies equally to every user, regardless of background.

1. Information I Collect

I collect information in two ways:

• Information you provide directly: When you create a listing, I collect your name, WhatsApp number, email address, property address, listing description, and payment information processed via Stripe.
• Information collected automatically: When you browse my site, I may collect your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent on pages. This is for analytics only and does not personally identify you.

2. How I Use Your Information

• To display your property listing to prospective tenants
• To process your $20/month listing fee through Stripe
• To contact you about your listing, payments, or support requests
• To improve my website and user experience
• To comply with applicable laws in Ontario, Canada

3. What I Do NOT Do

• I do not sell your personal information to any third party
• By default, your WhatsApp number, contact info and exact address are kept private — tenants message you via a form and you contact them
• Optional public sharing: a landlord may choose to display their contact details and/or full address publicly on their listing. This is entirely the landlord's choice. If you choose this, those details become visible to everyone, and Aapdu Ghar is not responsible or liable for any consequence of that public disclosure. We recommend keeping them private.
• I do not send unsolicited marketing emails or messages
• I do not store your full payment card details — all payments are handled securely by Stripe

4. Third-Party Services

I use the following third-party services:

• Stripe — for secure payment processing. Stripe's Privacy Policy applies to any payment data: stripe.com/privacy
• Google Fonts / Fontshare — for typography. No personal data is collected.
• Unsplash — for placeholder listing images. No personal data is collected.

5. Data Retention

I retain your personal data for as long as your listing is active. If you cancel your listing, your data is deleted within 30 days. Payment records may be retained for up to 7 years as required by Canadian tax law.

6. Your Rights (Canadian Residents)

Under applicable Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), you have the right to:

• Access the personal information I hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information (subject to legal retention requirements)
• Withdraw consent for data processing at any time

7. Cookies

My website uses minimal cookies only for essential site functionality. I do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings without affecting basic site browsing.

8. Children's Privacy

My service is intended for users 18 years of age or older. I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe I have inadvertently collected such information, please contact me immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. I will notify users of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
